Use your EDGE PC Card modem

An EDGE PC Card is an alternative solution.
Most laptop comes with card slots. PC card slot is generally located on the left or right hand side of your portable computer and will generally have two available locations for cards to be connected. As you can see in the below picture the card is going into the laptop horizontally.

If you are not using the PC card, you can just leave it in the slot. All you need to do just by enabling it using the software client (comes together in CD) upon purchase.

Of these, EDGE PC card modems provide the highest throughput rates. An EDGE PC card modem is easy to set up and allow you to use your laptop wirelessly without tying up your phone.

Here is the general idea on how to install EDGE PC card:

step 1
Install the software installation CD that comes with the card first. Insert it into the CD-ROM drive. It should autostart. If it doesn't, remove the CD and then re-insert it (or execute the set-up programme).

step 2
Insert the SIM card. The application will exit if no SIM card is detected.

step 3
Insert the antenna into the EDGE PC card (round slot).

step 4
Insert the EDGE PC card into your PC card slot. You should then be able to see the EDGE PC card under "Modems" in the "Control Panel". A soft beep that indicates the card has been inserted can also be heard.

step 5
To create a new connection, follow the onscreen instructions.
