    Cylinder head porting refers to the process of modifying the intake and exhaust ports of an internal combustion engine to improve the quality and quantity of the gas flow.
    Cylinder heads, as manufactured, are usually suboptimal due to design and manufacturing constraints. Porting the heads provides the finely detailed attention required to bring the engine to the highest level of efficiency. More than any other single factor, the porting process is responsible for
    the high power output of modern engines.

    This process can be applied to a standard racing engine to optimize its power output as well as to a production engine to turn it into a racing engine, to enhance its power output for daily use or to alter
    its power output characteristics to suit a particular application. Daily human experience with air gives the impression that air is light and nearly non-existent as we move slowly through it. However, an
    engine running at high speed experiences a totally different substance.
    In that context, air can be thought of as thick, sticky, elastic, gooey
    and heavy (see viscosity). Pumping it is a major problem for engines running at speed so head porting helps to alleviate this.

    Biasanya porting ini utk melancarkan angin dari karburator/airbox masuk kedalam enjin, tp jikalau salah porting, power lost & Fuel Comsumption mendadak naik

    Port and Polish


    Porting and polishing your intake manifold or cylinder head(s) is an
    important upgrade that can have a dramatic impact on your engine.
    Alone, a ported and polished intake manifold will add about 7hp at the
    wheels. However, the important aspect of this upgrade is that it
    reduces the air resistance in your engine. Without a port and polish,
    the more air your engine tries to pull in, the more resistance is met,
    and the harder it is to get the neccesary air. When your air passages
    are bigger and smoother however, the air flows with less resistance,
    and more air is pulled in. Think of it like trying to drive fast. In a
    semi-truck, it takes a lot of energy to drive at high-speed. What you
    want is a sports car, that cuts through the air and goes faster for its
    horsepower.

    nilah pengalaman ni di hadapi oleh kawan aku jugak...polish nikan head makin nipis...jadi jalan berbukit tinggi..cepat panas so lost powerlah...jalan rata...ok..saya pun tak tau mengapa.. nantilah aku tanya kawan aku tu,....

    kwn aku ni banyak bikin keta..sekarang dia tenga pengajar(mekanik) kat ikm kuching..sarawak... dulu kat kk dia pernah test dgn toyota turbo..1.6 keatas..dia pakai toyota 1.3 standard tapi power dia bikin...tinggal ooohh...tak tau..dia bikin mcm mana..

    Ini kes terlebih porting suda nie, sepatutnya port dlm 2mm beza saja, kalau lebih... mcm fakta yg telah dikatakan sebelum ini, power loss & kuat makan petrol

    klu setakat 2mm mungkin xpala...masi bule lagi...tp tetap ada beza tu...
    saya sendiri pernah rasa bw keta suda kena porting....1.3 stanted bule swap vigo jln lurus...memang power lah..tp time saya turun kk jln kimanis..,
    haiz...berat betul...

    Mmg betul tuh, kadang≤ kita juga yg mau porting yg besar≤, trip lagi besar lubang lagi banyak angin yg masuk, tapi lupa pulak... lagi banyak angin, minyak tidak cukup, mestila semput, kalau main kreta NA, enjin masi selamat, tapi kalau main turbo suda, tambah lagi dgn boost 20psi, komfom Kebaabooommm!!!

    port and polish mmg bagus klu mau enjin kuat... but 1st mmg klu angin dah banyk, minyak pun kena big flow... penjimatan petrol mmg nda wujud lagi...

    klu port n polish jak, ndada guna klu piston masi std.. at least low compression, valve tukar besar.. aku pernah try pakai valve toyota... setakat 38psi no problem.. but at least engine management kena ada mcm 5 button.

    tepuk dada tanya selera.. buat apa port and polish klu stakat mau pakai keta tu pi kerja atau pi pasar atau bw anak bini pi tg aru makan jagung... klau mcam gila kuasa lenlah... terpulang dgn individu itulah klu mau kuat, jgn mengomel klu pulang balik kk-putatan minyak rm10.. lol!

    rugi ko pakai turbo besar klu nda port.. kurang2 1mm dah cukup.. pastu polish licin2.. naa best gila.. ko rasa tu sentakkan melakat di kerusi... hehehe...
