i would like to enquiry which player is suitable to play sq

pioneer p80 or alpine w202

and also speaker - AD or menphis

i think the HU i'll go for p80 as it has the SQ functions...not so sure bout w202.

as for the speaker I'm not so sure.both r good products i think.based on wat ive read so far, there r lots of good review on the memphis M-series.

well, both are different category, W202 is a multimedia HU while P80 is juz a single disc CD player, first of all u need to answer to urself, how far are u willing to go for ICE, wat kinda budget are u looking at, pure SQ CD system or multimedia? cos multimedia system we try to build a surround sound while pure SQ application we onli emphasize on front speakers while leaving the rear empty. which ride u having? with W202 it is possible to have a hybrid SQ/multimedia system, but u need to add another alpine processor PXA-H701 to complete the system. and of cos higher cost as well.

hi, both speaker also not many ppl use, but for sq, ppl always pick AD rather than Memphis but it will burn a hole in your pocket..and since u r from tawau, go to megga auto and see for ur self

Of the two ill go for the P80RSII....but if u want multimedia and SQ ill go for the W202......but.......

Believe me...it is entertaining to think and imagine that our car gonna be able to play most of the multimedia format available....but in reality...as you are driving on the road and that you will just spend a fraction of your time in the car....all those multimedia will be of no use to you in the end....been there...done that...and I know...

Unless if you got kids who like to watch cartoon while you are driving....but as CK mentions....you will need some kind of sounds processor and since its an alpine, PXA-H701 would a good match for it....you can find second hand at around RM1k...but since most people sell it together with the controller it will be around RM1.5k out there for 2nd hand....

So stick to just a CD player....go for just CD players.....aim for Mcintosh, Denon, Pioneer P90, Alpine F#1 Status, Eclipse Sound Monitor or atleast Clarion HX-D2 the most affordable of all the SQ HU out there.... Or you can try the latest mid end from Pioneer P99RS which is comparible to the D2 in perfomance....which I never heard yet but according to most review and CK's review not as good as the D2...

Or you can go for the mid end alpine, eclipse or pioneer or clarion....like CDA 9887 and 7200 MKII

As for the drivers...since your are just comparing the AD and the memphis...I suggest u go for AD...but before you go further do some research as the are still lots more products out there....hardcore SQuers like CK like to use Raw Driver for his system....hehehe.......

bro, i didn't say P99 is not as gud as D2, i said they are both gud both different character. i prefer D2 over P99, but for competition, P99 is a weapon of choice as it has much more tuning option. Raw drivers pawns, baby. seems like TS is gone...

So you are suggesting that if he is into competition he should get a P99? Let say that he is not going into to a competition...so D2 is still the better option?

Or since you are saying that P99 has more tuning capability...so P99 would be a better choice on both situation?

Or if he wants more tuning options he can pair D2 with the PXA-H701?

TS i meant was thread starter. D2 and P99 are 2 different kinda beasts. it's like mercedes and BMW. both has their pros and cons. i personally feels dat D2 is more warm sounding, P99 is precise, for instruments, P99 is better, for vocal, i prefer D2 over P99. but it's all depend on individual, one's meat is another's poison. gotta listen for urself. D2 + H701 is no more D2 d, i believe the sonic character will change as D2 onli acts as a transport in this setup. for my personal taste(imho), D2 for daily listening, P99 for competition. u may like it the other way round. can't argue dat.

not mad la, i encounter this kinda situation a lot, and 'imho' is the best way to get out of it. like i said personal taste... D2 or P99 is up to the user, not me. i just stated my choice. imho, for competition P99 has an upper hand due to the better tuning capabilties. sound wise, i feel dat it's a little too dry, not as interesting as the D2, it wins D2 for a better grasp of the staging, focused, wide and precise. P99 sounds very similar to P90. to answer ur question of best HU for daily listening is.... it's up to the user, wahaha. if u like superb staging with lots of tuning to play with and a modern looking HU, then P99. if u like old skool design, warm and more analog sounding, then D2.

Nay...stating that it is up to the user is to be comfirmative and to save one's as*....I think TS is asking for our opinion...so states your opinion....then to save our as* put the disclaimer...hehehe.....

Everywhere you google...ppl will always says...trust your ear....that could not be always right when it is impossible for one to be able to listen and audit....those who says that are the priveledge fews who got groups of ICE enthusiast who can let them audit their system....I dont think we got that kind of group in KK.....there are but I dont think we got meet up like the SPL one in Tanjung Lipat....

So you be the one to arrange that meet up CK....

i alwez arrange this kinda meetup when i was in KK. but too bad not all of us live in KK. and SQ ICE is not so popular yet, so it's a small TT with 3-5 cars usually. we usually do it at lintas, tg.lipat too noisy and no teh tarik there.
trust ur ears is alwez true, but like u said, not all of us has the privilege to audit most of the things we wanna buy. so we rely on 'imho' reviews. but it helps nonetheless as long u dun come and blame the reviewer later for giving a lousy review. we can just use dat as a reference. for me, i trust my intuiation besides reading those reviews. sometimes, there is just the feeling dat tells u to get something, haha.

Hello guys,i am planning to do a SQ setup on my kancil.So here it goes.Just for easy listening w/o deep bass.

What i dun want:
1.tweeter = i like to see my dashboard neat w/o tweeters
2.subwoofer = kancil's booth is already small to cramp 12" or even 10" subwoofer.

So my only way is 3-way speakers. (tweeter+mid range+woofer).My setup : HU+2 speakers front+2 speakers rear+4 channel amp.I'm thinking of getting SONY XPLOD XS-GTF6925B 6'x9' 3-Way speakers.Any advice guys?

Well if u ask me i would go for 2 4in spk mount under the board or on the door panel and 2 6x9 maby 300w spk mount at the back. the cost is around rm200. to poewr the unit u need 1 2ch amp, look for the below rm150 price and lastly u need a cheap pre amp around rm60. hook all the eqpment and see the dif
