What is SQ?

There's a misunderstanding that SQ(Sound Quality) is a system that can't play loud. Stock system also can't play loud but that's far from a real SQ system. So what is Sound Quality? SQ is that aspect of a sound system, which encompasses all of the performance factors which give the system the ability to re-produce an accurate and life-like rendition of the original recording as perfectly as possible. It includes factors such as tonality, ambience, subtle nuance, system gain structure, dynamics,transient response, and the list goes on and on.
SQ is a combination of all these technical factors as well as proper
speaker placement and proper system design. When a system is said to have perfect SQ, it generates the most accurate sound possible, with a sense of musical realism that gives the listener the impression that they "hear" a live performance right in front of them, as if the listener was in the audience watching the actual performers on an actual stage. Now, to get this realistic musical "sound stage" in a car, it takes careful system planning, speaker placement, and tuning.

from what i think,

1st = installation --- (a) Soundproof (b) Power Management, which includes power/grounding cables, battery, BIG 3, HO Alternator
2nd = HU --- this is the main control centre which determines the source quality and tuning flexibility..more pre-out the better the tuning flexibility..a limited function HU can also be compensated by introducing external proc. (H701, H800, MS-8, Bit.1, Bit.10, etc...)
3rd = Speakers
4th = Amps
5th = RCA cables, Speaker cables, Caps, etc..

at least changing to a good speaker first even using stock HU, u still feel a huge difference

yup u r right...100% different sound if one upgrade the speakers alone..this is what i did at the first time...slowly upgrading and now slowly want to downgrade... from passive to active and to passive again..nothing to worry about this and that if we just use a good, simple and affordable system..just enjoy..

haha taaron, u seems like those AC's followers as well..well, nothing wrong with opinions n philosophy, i know some of the icehifers whom i chat with oso said smthing like u...speakers at 3rd place?

***if i buy a new car n slowly want to upgrade ice with a bit sq in mind..& if without xperience and dont even know what is active or passive, and also dont have that much money to spend at 1 time...objective=enjoy the music without to learn ice kung-fu from various sifu..

1. Good speakers-- medium output/RMS.. so i can run them passively with my stock HU without amp..i need to audit different set of speakers as much as i can n pick the one i like..e.g pioneer PRS, DLS reference or some better 2nd hand stuff through research off course)

2. Change HU--i would buy a good but affordable 4v 3 preout passive hu, e.g pioneer deh-8350sd, now i got usb, mp3 etc oredi n can enjoy music.......i would never touch active HU.it will become a nightmare for beginner.

3. "i felt no kick on the bass"..then i will add a 10'medium output subwoofer,..i'll buy good and affordable 5 channel amp with the right power so i can save space n weight n power up the whole sys..1st pre out for front, 2nd preout for low volume rear fill, 3rd is the subwoofer..now i can get full sound and people at the back also can enjoy listening...."oh i only hav a small car, not enough space n i dont want weight"...maybe i'll consider underseat sub, and a small 4 ch amp.

3.1 - cables/rca- i dont want to operate my car so many times, i only need 1 installation job, so i should use average n affordable cables that i can rely on without prob or hissing sound n so on....no rm2 cable please

4. i hear rattling etc---apply a little deadening will do the job without worrying bout the the over weight....

5...enjoy for long..........this setup can be considered more than average.

6....Upgrading?? then it will become a different story...BUT..with the above setup u can just change the HU if u want to play active coz they are capable in SQ oredi..

7. want to play High End?? you'll never stop spending more and more money hahaha

sya pn akan jdi cam ko juga tu nanti rudy...kasi masuk passive system, sub kecil ok suda.speaker skrg ni kali mau kasi jdi home audio, cari midrange lgi la...tpi mau cari 4ohm amp susa skit la.nasib juga sub 4ohm juga.kali ada snang skit la cari sbab suma 4ohm...ini pn klau suda tukar kereta la...hehe

just now keboringan, so I've played with the Imprint..below pic is the result of before and after..hehe..any comment on the FR?!

can u run imprint just to see the frequency graph? means no need tuning.

can..at the result screen (above pic), i can choose not to send filter means no Imprint curve uploaded to the HU..

how does it sounds?? hehe..the bass sounds cleaner and upfront bass is felt..however, lower end extension isn't great due to Imprint normally cut down the sub level by ALOT..midrange section sounds fuller, but somewhat unnatural feeling..anyway, i still like my manual tuning..maybe my mic placement for tuning purpose not really at its best, got to do trial n error for the placement..
