What is SQ?
There's a misunderstanding that SQ(Sound Quality) is a system that can't play loud. Stock system also can't play loud but that's far from a real SQ system. So what is Sound Quality? SQ is that aspect of a sound system, which
encompasses all of the performance factors which give the system the
ability to re-produce an accurate and life-like rendition of the
original recording as perfectly as possible. It includes factors such
as tonality, ambience, subtle nuance, system gain structure, dynamics,
transient response, and the list goes on and on. SQ is a combination of
all these technical factors as well as proper speaker placement and
proper system design. When a system is said to have perfect SQ, it
generates the most accurate sound possible, with a sense of musical
realism that gives the listener the impression that they "hear" a
live performance right in front of them, as if the listener was in the
audience watching the actual performers on an actual stage. Now, to get
this realistic musical "sound stage" in a car, it takes careful
system planning, speaker placement, and tuning.

after some reading, there are comments tat 18W a little less vocal and suits 3 way...huhu

if u get a tweeter dat can play low then it will be ok. 15W start to play from around 80-100Hz while 18W a little lower at 68Hz, can try 50Hz but at a steep slope. mine is a variant of 18W, i play it at 80Hz @ 18dB/oct. 15W not so bassy, of course better freq response at midrange. if wan to get 15W, u have to get a very transparent sounding sub. if u plan to play scanspeak, get 18W + a large tweeter like 9700 or 6600 or morel supremo oso can. 18W can play up to 2.5kHz easily, then tweeter take over the rest of the freq.

owh...nice...if i hve 18w and a tweet later on if m planing 2 play 3 way i still have room for improvement rite.boleh kasi pasang mid range then ok suda?and of course a new HU la.and an amp...ugh... thanx ck...now macam mo change my mind to 18W...tngok la macam mna ni.mounting tu 18w besar bah...hehe my door panel need a total make over.in the future klo mo jual 2 kereta susa suda.

wat do u mean by transparent sub?bunyi da blend ka?ur mid 7" ka juga?grill lagi 1 prob.huhu

grill mmg troublesome, mine is oso 7", tapi tiada grill. juz be careful when entering or going out of ur car. with 18W sure u have room for improvement in case u wan 3 way in the future. but u have to plan which tweeter u getting. big tweets have to do A pillar for sure, so it's like interior makeover for the pillar and doors. next time jual murah sikit lo, hoho. keep the city as a 2nd car pun boleh ba in case u have a family by then.

transparent sub means a sub dat plays so smoothly dat u can't feel its presence at the back. my sub i can say it's quite transparent. other SQ sub like scanspeak, peerless and SEAS oso very transparent.

fuh looks like u r going high end final..good for u..to me i like little or like no modification done to my car interior except for the a pillar. i can get original replacement a pillar from toyota auto parts easily n cheap if i want to restore to its original cond..

so my opinion is..if u r really going into high end, just make sure choose the best components for u otherwise u will end with messing up ur car..

haha as for the sub... if u like contemporary tunes like BEP, u'll appreciate louder SQ sub coz sometimes u'll go for inner SPL just for fun (i love metal!! yeah!!)..if u r into songs like CKs then go for the so called "transparent sub".

CK, asal ada p90 ko kctau la, banyak suda telepas tu p90 org jual. p99 rasanya lum ada org jual, ntahla kalau ada, lum search lg sbb lum ada duit.. oh ko punya ir3 ada ka lagi, aku reserve la..amp aku pegang pada fakta blindfold experiment tu ja dulu heheh, kalau amp gitar lain la, memang 100% ada perbezaan.

final, tweeter sure can tapi... tweeter pod for big tweeter sangat mahal, mo at least 400 for custom made aluminium one. and u still need to tebuk 1 big hole for it. final, u try to play with 1 sub first since u have 2, is it each sub has its seperated volume or 2 subs are in a box without barier inside? try to learn tuning and bring the bass up front. i think peerless sub will suit u, it's not as weak as scanspeak or seas but at the same time not as transparent. power requirement is less than 500w rms. and most important, cheaper. dat krayden oso have a peerless sub for sale if u wan get the 18W and sub from him la, but i not sure if it's 10" or 12".

go for 18W la, no regrets. unless u confirm stay at 2 way. if not really a lot money wasted. if get 15W will u make an enclosure for it? if free air, it will be quite a stress for it unless u filter it higher. like dat u will lose ur midbass response d. without midbass, most songs wun sound nice.

make enclosure inside the door panel?sealed one ka?

u check at madisound. there is recommended enclosure over there. better ask around how much it cost to make enclosure in the door first.

woofer/mid 35 - 3.2khz.

let say sya cross 2 tweeter at 1khz at 24db/oct dan mid sya main 80hz-1khz at 18db/oct.

so 2 tweeter dn mid teda titik slope yg bercantum la 2?overlaping la 2 flat sja?dn 1khz itu tweeter akan main bnyak juga d bwah 1khz la kn?so boleh kasi rosak 2 tweeter?makin sikit db/oct makin steep la 2 slope?mean pndek sja freq slepas 2 limit d potong?

kalau sya set HPF tweeter at 1khz mksudnya start 1khz dia slope turun?
or 1khz titik akhir itu slope.so slope start bfore 1khz?

start turun from 1kHz. tweeter hancur oh, haha. i dun quite understand ur titik bercantum thing. HPF and LPF. dats it. overlaping does not mean flat on EQ, overlaping means the same freq is being played at 2 places, bad for soundstage.

titik bercantum means the freq cross at that point.hehe hard to explain bah...hehe macam yg sya ckp tdi 2 klo mid LPF 1khz,tweeter HPF 1khz means the freq crossed d 1 khz la?tpi dia cross bukn on the slope kn?so the freq between those area kena amplify coz overlaping?

i understand ur titik bercantum d, the meeting point of 2 slopes. usually it depends on the system and personal preference, no written rules on those. most of the time we try to achieve a linear RTA, like in the pic below:

i usually use my ears and tune. play around with cross, until optimum then use EQ to smoothen out the sound. my system after x-over, sounds very sharp/bright, so i cut the freq at 5kHz and a little 8kHz to smoothen out. then lack of puch in midbass area, i added at 400Hz region. x-over is basically to limit which freq ur speaker plays best and match with other speakers, EQ to iron out all the impurities in the RTA.

hehe yup, no written rules but m affraid m running freqs tat is not suppose 2 b playd on certain speaker...hehe nanti hangkang owh...hehe m not quite sure bout this x-over stuff tats y i asked...thanx CK

tweeter hpf dun set below 3kHz if u r not sure wat is it capable of. midbass not so sensitive so it's ok even u set full pass as long u dun push the gain too high. usually in a 3way system, i mean generally with dome mid like DLS Iridium, midbass plays from 50-800, mid from 800 to 5khz, tweeter from there onwards. 2 way system, we set the tweeter to play as low as possible to bring up the sound stage. mid plays till 3.15kHz and tweeter from there on. some mid dat is more midrange orientated plays higher till 5kHz example power's nobelium.

next time if we talk abt scanspeak's model, mention the last few
numbers like 66000, 97000, 70000 and so on. there are a few models dat
start with 2904. the one dat robert selling is similar to vifa XT25? it is quite nice but strictly for on axis installation onli. that kind of tweet called ring radiator as it has a phase plug(nipple) in the middle. this type of tweeter usually can't play as low as dome tweet and very dependant on axis, usually ppl use it for 5kHz onwards. more suited for a 3 way setup. the price is quite cheap i suppose, less than 1k for sure.

dynaudio 342 at onli ~1.3k very nice price. can play active 2 way first, next time need 3 way dun have to buy anymore. absolutely revommended. it's a reference system used by some car audio magazines around the world due its neutral quality.
